Residential Services

Adult Residential Services

Providing Support In Their Homes

ResidenceOur community-based Residential Services Program operates 14 homes in Ellicott City, Columbia and Catonsville. Most support three individuals, and all have staff onsite at all times.  Awake overnight services and one-to-one behavioral supports are available to individuals who need them. Staff members assist residents as they develop the daily routines necessary for them to work, use community resources and make connections outside their homes. Each home has a van to take residents to community activities and appointments.

We encourage family members to remain a part of the individual’s life inasmuch as it is something that the individual desires. Family members visit the homes and become part of the team that develops and reviews the individual’s treatment plan. This plan becomes the blueprint of services the individual receives from Linwood. Linwood’s adult residential services are licensed by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration.

Children’s Residential Services

As a component of Linwood’s comprehensive programs and services, we offer a community-based residential program. Students are referred to this program based on need through local school systems, the Autism Waiver and local Departments of Social Services. Students reside in nearby group homes with three or four children in each home.

All residences have round-the-clock staffing including awake-overnight supervision. Under the direction of Linwood’s State Certified Residential Child Care Program Administrators, a full complement of staff provide supervision and engage the residents in a wide array of home living and recreational activities after school and on weekends.

As the residential program is part of the comprehensive services provided to a number of our students, the Residential Director is part of the team of professionals that develops a coordinated and integrated program between the school and residences. The Residential Director and his team are directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the residential program and the delegation of responsibilities necessary to effectively implement the program in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. The Residential Team consists of the Residential Director, Program Coordinator, Assistant Program Coordinator, Health Services Coordinator and the Delegating RN. Staff working in the residences include House Managers, Residential Assistants and Awake-Overnight Assistants.

The Maryland Department of Human Services licenses and monitors Linwood’s residential services. Linwood is also an approved provider for residential habilitation under the Autism Waiver.
