Instructional and Related Services Staff
Instructional Staff
Linwood’s teachers have certificates in special education and meet Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements. In addition to our special education teachers, we also assign support staff to classrooms when indicated in the students’ IEPs to provide one-on-one academic and behavioral supports.
Each classroom has a certified special education teacher and at least one instructional assistant, with a maximum class size of seven. Instructional assistants and one-to-one aides are assigned to classrooms according to the service needs specified in the students’ IEPs.
Related Services Staff
Our related services staff includes Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Music Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Physical Education Teachers, and Social Workers, each of whom is fully certified or licensed. In addition to working with the students, they provide consultation and training to the instructional staff and students’ families when indicated.
Many of Linwood’s students are on a vocational track. Our Vocational and Recreational Coordinator develops programs within the school and seeks volunteer, work study and job opportunities in the community for our students.
Linwood’s Delegating RN Case Manager, along with our part time Nurse, performs a variety of designated nursing functions for our students and residents, including oversight of our Certified Medication Technicians who are available on all shifts and in all programs. In addition, our Health Care Coordinator coordinates the necessary care for Linwood students and residents who are sick or injured. This includes coordinating and scheduling health care appointments with program personnel and parents as needed.
